About Me

Hello, I'm Lauren, a specialist SEN tutor, qualified SENCo and Licensed THRIVE Practitioner. I provide one-to-one literacy, maths and emotional wellbeing support for children across Colchester, Earls Colne and the surrounding areas.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, including 13 years as a SENCo, I created The Nurture Pod to offer families something more personal than traditional tutoring. Every child deserves support that recognises their strengths, understands their challenges and helps them grow in confidence as well as ability. My goal is simple: to help children learn, grow, and thrive—especially when learning feels tough. 

Throughout my career I've supported children with dyslexia, autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, anxiety and a wide range of additional learning needs. I understand that every child learns differently, and recognise the vital link between emotional wellbeing and a child's ability to learn, so every session is carefully planned around their individual strengths, interests and next steps.

Sessions can take place in your home, in my dedicated learning space or within school, providing children with a familiar and supportive environment in which to learn.

As a mum to three amazing children, I know first-hand that every child develops at their own pace. Parenting has reinforced what I have always believed as a teacher—that confidence, patience and feeling understood are just as important as academic success.

Whether your child needs support with literacy, maths, emotional wellbeing or confidence, my aim is always the same—to help them enjoy learning, celebrate their successes and believe in their own abilities. I work closely with parents and schools to create personalised support that enables every child to learn, grow and thrive. You don't have to navigate it alone. Together, we can build a plan that helps them feel more confident, capable and ready to learn again.
